This directory contains digital grids that are supplements to this paper: Dutkiewicz, A., Müller, R.D., Wang, X., O’Callaghan, S., Cannon, J., Wright, N.M., 2017. Predicting sediment thickness on vanished ocean crust since 200 Ma. Geochemistry, Geophysics, Geosystems, 18, 4586–4603. The jupyter notebooks associated with this paper are located on the earthByte GitHub: https://github.com/EarthByte/predicting-sediment-thickness Please refer to the notebooks themselves and to the methodology section of the paper for understanding what they do. There are three directories of netcdf4 files: passive_margin_distance_grids sediment_thickness_grids sedimentation_rate_grids "passive_margin_distance_grids" contains global grids of the mean distances to passive margins for any given parcel of ocean during its lifetime, from 200Ma to the present. Units are in km. "sediment_thickness_grids" contains global grids of the compacted predicted sediment thickness through time, from 200 Ma to present. Units are in m. "sedimentation_rate_grids" contains global grids of predicted sedimentation rates through time, from 200 Ma to preszent. Units are in m/ka. Please refer to the paper above for a description on how these grids were constructed. The netcdf grids can be viewed using the free software Panoply, or using the Generic Mapping Tools v5 or above.
