Ömer Bodur has satisfied the requirements for the award of the degree of Doctor of Philosophy (Science). Dr Ömer Bodur has completed his Ph.D. in 3 years, and he is currently pursuing his postdoc at the University of Wollongong.
His thesis titled: On the Dynamics of Plate Tilting: An Analytical and Numerical Approach, was supervised by Patrice Rey, Greg Houseman and Dietmar Muller.
Three assessors made great comments on the quality of Ömer’s work.
“It is rare to see a new process proposed in the paradigm of plate tectonics and for it to be broken down to simple math and physics...”
“This is a truly well written thesis with an insightful contribution to a vexing research problem related to the discrepancy in predicted amplitudes of the topography supported by mantle flow.”
“A truly novel contribution is the idea that basal tractions at the base of plate induces tilting of continents ...”
