Using the Redox front model of Opal formation proposed by Rey (2013), he will be breaking down the formation of precious opal using a mineral system concept. After identifying and analysing the different scales of the formation process and their inherent characteristics an appropriate exploration technique will be targeted to each. This will be done in currently operating and producing opal mines throughout Western Queensland. As no current exploration model for precious opal exists this will be a workflow for prospective opal miners.
Currently completing his Honours at the University of Sydney with Earthbyte. He completed his Bachelor of Geology at James Cook University in Townsville in 2016. From being raised in the opal mines of Western Queensland he has always had a strong passion for geology and especially exploration.
