Eric Chenyu Wang

My PhD project involves creating seismic hazard and risk models, focused specifically on the Sydney region. This requires the understanding of relevant geological, geophysical, geographical, and infrastructural variables, which combined create seismic models. Currently, I am studying active faults and their interactions with other faults in their vicinity (i.e. Coulomb stress transfer and dynamic stress).

In 2022, I completed my Honours degree in modelling seismic hazard and risk in Sydney, which forms the basis of my knowledge for my PhD project. The findings confirmed the need for a better understanding of potential earthquake sources, shear wave velocity of surficial geology, and infrastructural variables in Sydney, but also throughout Australia.
